The very
names of the cities shine like gold: Samarkand, Isfahan, Kokand. A
transcontinental route from east to west has existed for thousands of
years, and silk first arrived in Europe in Roman times. A lovely map of
the entire route, bordered with Chinese motifs.
Bound in red paper embossed with palm fronds, with a gold
metallic
paper spine . The interior is
lined with green embossed paper, and contains a gold band
that
hold a map (1 1/2" x 3 1/2" unfolded) of the medieval route
between Constantinople and Khanbalik.
