The very
names of the cities shine like gold: Samarkand, Isfahan, Kokand. A
transcontinental route from east to west has existed for thousands of
years, and silk first arrived in Europe in Roman times. A lovely map of
the entire route, bordered with Chinese motifs.
Bound in shiny black Japanese paper embossed with red dragonflies, with a gold matallic spine piped in red. The interior is
lined with white moire paper, and contains a
band that hold a map (3 1/2" x 7" unfolded) of the medieval route
between Constantinople and Khanbalik.
