The Silk Road

A Map Portfolio
1 7/8" x 1 1/4"

The very names of the cities shine like gold: Samarkand, Isfahan, Kokand. A transcontinental route from east to west has existed for thousands of years, and silk first arrived in Europe in Roman times. A lovely map of the entire route, bordered with Chinese motifs.

Bound in shiny black Japanese paper embossed with red dragonflies, with a gold matallic spine piped in red. The interior is lined with white moire paper, and contains a band that hold a map (3 1/2" x 7" unfolded) of the medieval route between Constantinople and Khanbalik.
